14-Day Beyond Band of Brothers 77 Tour

The 77th anniversary of D-Day
Our Beyond Band of Brothers 77 Tour takes you on an epic 14-day journey from Normandy, through encircled Bastogne all the way to Hitler's Eagle's Nest. We walk the sands of all five D-Day landing beaches, stand atop the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc and pay our respects at the Normandy American Cemetery. We attend a special commemoration ceremony in Normandy. Adding further flavor to the week's activities is a vast array of World War II vehicles on display and in motion, parachute jumps, air shows, and much more, which we aim to attend as their timing and our itinerary allows. We journey on east to Belgium, where we explore the battlefields of the Bulge, crouch in the foxholes of Bois Jacques and climb into tanks at the Nuts! Cave in Bastogne. We then head to Munich to explore the city as the birthplace of the Nazi party and the heart of the National Socialist movement, including a visit to infamous Dachau, the very first concentration camp. We top off the tour with a day in the Alps of Berchtesgaden, marveling at the view from the Eagle's Nest and descending into the SS bunker complex that was to serve as the Nazis' last stand.
The order of events on our anniversary tour is liable to change to accommodate the celebrations.

  • The day starts with a visit to Dead Man's Corner Museum in St-Come-du-Mont and an opportunity to buy authentic and replica WWII items. We then stop at the monument near Brecourt Manor, site of Easy Company's famous assault on a German artillery position. The afternoon features visits to Utah Beach and Sainte-Mère-Église.

  • We begin the day with a visit to Omaha Beach and the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer. The day continues with a trip to Pointe du Hoc, where Rudder's Rangers ascended the steep cliffs to take out the long-range artillery threatening the landing beaches.

  • The day's highlight is the 77th anniversary celebration of D-Day.

  • We spend the morning in the medieval island abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, which was a popular tourist destination for occupying German soldiers during the war.

  • The day is dedicated to the Falaise Pocket, where many of the German defenders of Normandy were eventually encircled. The trip includes the castle of William of Normandy, who conquered England in 1066, and the Montormel Memorial at the hill where Polish troops plugged the gap on the Pocket.

  • We explore the German battery at Longues-sur-Mer, then drive on to Arromanches at Gold Beach, where one of the two Mulberry Harbors was constructed. Later in the day we also make stops at Juno and Sword Beaches, and Pegasus Bridge.

  • After breakfast in Normandy, we travel to Belgium with regular stops along the way.

  • In the morning we tour the sites of the Battle of the Bulge. The foxholes of Bois Jacques are the highlight of the morning itinerary. After lunch we stop at the Mardasson Monument, which pays tribute to the Allied resolve during Hitler's last major counteroffensive in the West, and we explore the Bastogne War Museum.

  • We spend the day exploring the northern arc of the Bulge. We travel to Malmedy and La Gleize, where we follow the advance and demise of Colonel Joachim Peiper's battlegroup and learn about the atrocities committed by his SS troops.

  • We pay a visit to the Luxembourg American Cemetery, the final resting place of many 101st paratroopers as well as General George S. Patton, on our way to the city of Munich.

  • In the morning we visit the infamous Dachau Concentration Camp, which features a full-scale museum detailing Nazi atrocities. In the afternoon a local guide leads us on a Third Reich Tour of Munich.

  • The day involves a trip to Berchtesgaden, site of Hitler's Bavarian retreat and the Eagle's Nest. We start with a scenic drive up to the Eagle's Nest itself. We then pay a visit to Dokumentation Obersalzberg, an exhibit set atop the bunker complex that was to serve as the Nazis' last stand.

  • After saying goodbye, our guests are brought to Munich's airport for their return flights.
